ACC Statistics for April 2021

Reminder that the statistics start from 1st April for ACC, for their financial year.

SiteWise Pre-Qualification

SiteWise is NCCs contractor pre-qualification system.  The Health and Safety team are constantly working with the contractors to get them to the desired levels and keeping their documentation up-to-date.

SiteWise have introduced a “Gold” level in SiteWise now.  The Gold accrediation means that the contractors reach between 90 to 100% certification.

Napier City Council, City Services sits in the “Gold” level status and is due for renewal in the coming weeks.

The insurances expired are usually because the contractor has not uploaded their current documents.  H&S are working with the contractors to keep them on track.

SiteWise contractors are now up to 6000 registered throughout New Zealand.  The average score for contractors in NZ is 76%.  NCC contractors reach 86% on average.

Higgins Significant Incident

The Higgins ICAM investigation team met last week to produce a time line, identify root causes and to review the investigation material.

Actions that were taken following the incident are below:

·      Site was shut down.

·      Witness statements were taken from people involved.

·      Parties involved were D&A tested. No positive results.

·      Traffic management plan was altered to eliminate risk of plant/vehicle interface.

JSEA was amended on site the next morning and briefed to relevant work crews and traffic management.

Higgins are progressing on the investigation.

Stay Safe – Working Alone

Linda Clark has been working with a few staff around issues with the Stay Safe (Working Alone system).

·      Linda found that staff issued with new cell phones are having increased issues connecting their Stay Safe button to the phone/app, this was discovered Friday the 28/05/2021.

·      Linda Clark spoke to Stephen Robb at Secure Mobility (the owner/creator of the buttons and app) to find out if this is a common issue with other organisations.  He said yes, there is a new app that addresses these issues.

·      App information has been sent to Tim in IT to look at and test 31/05/2021.

·      Tim from IT is testing the app today 01/06/2021.

·      Linda is completing the change management paper work.

·      We plan to roll out the new app to one group of staff at a time, as there is some IT issues that need to happen:

Un-configure buttons from the old app and reconfigure to the new app.  Tim will do this for each staff member so there is less chance of issues. E.g. we will meet with the Parking team and move them to the new app.

Then we will move onto Transportation.

All of NCC could be changed in the next two weeks.

There are approximately 100 staff who use the Working Alone devices.
